I’ve taught 12-season color analysis for a long time, and Summers are fairly common (around 28% of the population.)
As a Big Four season, Summer is cool in hue, light in value, and muted in chroma. The end of the color range for Summer types push the boundaries on desaturation/mutedness and light value.
But outside of this framework, is another process which dictates how we wear and express colors:
Style Essence!!!
The ColorEssence Style System bridges these two style theories to combine the Big Four Seasons with Style Essences.
But first, a note on Essence Energies. Typical Essence theory is based on the concept of yin and yang, and is often expressed as a linear spectrum. But if we map them onto a circular diagram, you start to see some relationships form between them.

The Flowy Summer type combines the cool, muted coloring of Summer with the fluid, unstructured nature of the Natural and/or Ethereal style essences. Misty pastels, soft watercolors, and muted jewel tones remain flattering, but they are best expressed through draping silhouettes, airy layers, and delicate textures that enhance movement. Bold Summer Color Palette
The Bold Summer type combines the cool, muted coloring of Summer with the intense, striking nature of the Dramatic and/or Romantic style essences.
